I am a very opinionated but open-minded female of Southern origins. I grew up in the segregated South, in a part of Georgia that newcomers would not recognize as KKK territory. I bear the scars but try not to let them overwhelm me.
I have been a professional journalist since 1980 and am now trying to weather the changes in the news industry. Newspapers are scrambling to survive and veterans like me are finding out just how expendable we are. Thus, I am freelancing for online magazines such as The Root (www.theroot.com) and blogging.
